English lessons

The Summer School programme includes 15 hours of English lessons per week, consisting of 3 hours each morning.

Each week’s lessons are based around a specific theme, such as ‘Music & Culture’, ‘Magical England’, ‘Image & Identity’ and ‘Imagination’. Lessons focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing through a number of communicative and creative language projects.

Our lessons are designed to encourage communication, enhance accuracy and vocabulary as well as prepare students for their after-school activities.

Our qualified and experienced teaching team plan the syllabus and deliver lessons according to the high standards of the British Council. We have an excellent team of teachers who are passionate and interested in making your English language learning experience enjoyable and productive.

At the end of your course you will receive a certificate and academic report.

With this option, you have additional project-based learning sessions (1.5 hours per day) instead of afternoon activities. You still take part in evening activities and the Saturday full-day excursion.

During the project-based learning sessions, students work in teams to create a project, like making a film, designing a board game or crafting sustainable fashion and then showing it off on a catwalk.

Full-board accommodation

Most students stay in homestay accommodation with a caring host family, maximum 30 minutes travel from the Summer School.

Students share with up to 3 other students from the Summer School, usually of a different nationality, which helps them make friends quickly.

Our accommodation is full-board: hosts provide students with breakfast, evening meals and packed lunches on weekends, and school lunches at the Summer School are provided after class Monday to Friday.

Homestay accommodation is an amazing way to experience British culture, feel at home in Bath and improve English. You can be reassured that your child is cared for during their stay in Bath.

You can read more about our homestay accommodation here.

Residential accommodation is available for groups, please contact us for more details.

Families are also welcome to arrange the student's accommodation themselves, such as staying with a friend or family in Bath.
